Competing for the Mark Frowde trophy, the Poole Town starting lineup was Hutchings, Smeeton,Walker, Whisken, Leslie-Smith, Pettefer, Dickson, Clarke, Moore, Brooks and Griffin.
The first goal came on 5″ after a run down the right wing from Brooks, brought a fantastic cross which was met firmly by Griffin giving the Wimborne keeper no chance.
At the other end, the referee signaled for a penalty and a flurry of yellows for we assume dissent followed.
The ball then firmly struck to bring the score 1-1.
Brooks went down clutching his foot on 40″ and was replaced by Spetch. Just before the 45″ were up, Arnold was adjudged to have fouled as last man and shown a red card for a free kick just outside the area.
The resulting free kick smacked in to the upright and the first half ended then at 1-1 but with Poole Town on 5 yellow cards and Wimborne shown a red – not a reflection of the spirit in which the game was played.
The second half saw Dickson off replaced by Adam Grange and on 55″ another goal to Poole following some lovely build up play between Pettefer, Clarke and Griffin (2-1).
About 10″ later, Spetch scored a penalty to make it 3-1 during which 2 Wimborne players saw red.
With Wimborne now down to 8 players, there was a danger of an abandoned game with one more sent off. 78″ and Toby Holmes squirmed past 4 or 5 Poole Players to then slot the ball into the back of the net. (3-2).
Next goal saw Michael Walker take advantage and a few minutes later a triple substitution for Poole with Turner, Sampson and Jamieson coming on and in the final minutes – Charlie Turner scored the final goal for a 5-2 victory in the Mark Frowde Trophy.
