Wimborne again suffered quick fire heart ache late on as Swindon score twice in the space of a minute to take all three points at the Webbswood Stadium.
On 36 minutes, Toby Holmes forced the visitors into a mistake as he burst through on goal after a ball over the top from Benfield, the goalkeeper coming off his line and tripping up the defender Jerel Ifil who in a scramble attempt to clear the ball, hooked it into the back of his own net.
Midway through the second half, Paddy Hester running down the left flank, steered his pass to fellow defender and unlikely goalscorer, Stefan Penny, who shot home from a few yards out.
Despite taking the lead for the second time in the game, with just eight minutes of the game left, substitute Luke Williams won the ball in midfield, for Shepherd to pick out Williamson, who in turn laid the ball off for Gray. He made his way into the box, shook off a couple of defenders before calmly rolling home the equaliser. And just a minute later, Shepherd once again played a delicious ball out wide for McDonagh to burst down the right and send over a low cross that Fleetwood buried left footed past Benfield.
Swindon, who hadn’t scored in their three previous meetings against Wimborne, ran out 3-2 winners and make it three games unbeaten and climb to 17th. Wimborne sit 19th, one point ahead of Kings Langley though with two games in hand.
