After featuring from the bench on Tuesday night at Hartley Witney, we can confirm the signing of Ashley Pope from Dorchester Town.
Ashley joins the Magpies, having struggled for playing time during an initial work experience loan, in recent weeks at local rivals Dorchester. Speaking to the Dorset Echo Pope said:
“It’s difficult when you’re getting 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there, to make much of an impact.
“Things haven’t worked out how I hoped. Sometimes, that’s how it goes and it obviously wasn’t meant to be for me.”
Ashley remains dual signed with Christchurch FC and joins the leagues in form team, with defeat to Hartley ending Wimborne’s seven game unbeaten run. Having netted five goals in 13 games last season, he’s since bagged nine in 12 matches for the Priory.
“To be playing alongside (Toby Holmes) can only benefit me, he’s proven that he can do it, not just at this level but levels below and higher. It’s not a blip, he consistently scores. As a young striker it’s good to be around someone who can and will score.”
“(Game time) is a problem but I’ll still be at Christchurch so I can get those minutes and when I’m called on by Matty, I can do what he asks me and help the team out as best as I can.”
