Match Preview – Willand Rovers vs Wimborne Town
The Magpies head to Devon this Saturday to take on 14th place Willand Rovers in the Southern League.
In our last outing a ten-man Wimborne managed to grab a hard-fought win against Paulton Rovers with Sam Griffin’s straight red card seeing us at a disadvantage in the first half.
An early goal from bottom of the table Paulton stunned Wimborne who responded convincingly through Jonny Stuttle’s finish. With all to play for in the second half Connor Cocklin’s winner ultimately saw the Magpies come away with a tough but deserved 3 points.
Form guide:
Willand come into the game on shakey form, a win last timeout to Bideford will see the visitors pick up some confidence however they have just picked up 2 wins in their last 13 fixtures which has seen them drop down the table.
In the reverse fixture, Willand had spent most of the time topping the division and were yet to drop out of the top 4. The Magpies came out with an impressive 4-2 win in that game, which saw a comfortable 3-0 lead turn into a 6-goal thriller.
Since that game, the boys have not looked back as we sit 2nd in the Southern League, level on points with leaders Frome Town with a game in hand, a side Wimborne still must host this season.
The Magpies head to Willand as a confident side on an 11-game unbeaten run, with their last league defeat coming away to Larkhall athletic in January of this year. 6 wins in our last 6 will have the boys playing with their heads held high as they look to put the cherry on top of a fantastic season.
Come on you Maggies!
Weather forecast: cloudy; 19oC with a chance of wind.
See you there.
