How would you summarise the team’s performance this season?

“As a newly promoted side I feel like we really made an impact on the league, a lot of the teams were unaware of who we are as a club and I feel like we definitely made a statement. This is just the beginning and to finish mid table after a difficult season with games postponed and injuries I can say it was a season to be proud of!”

What were some of the standout moments or turning points for the team?

“An example I can think of would be when we beat Havant & Waterlooville 2-1. This result was crucial for us as they are the team to be promoted for this season so we can definitely take that as a positive as we know we can beat tougher opposition.”

What challenges did the team face this season, and how did you overcome them?

“During this season as a squad, we struggled with momentum due to games being postponed over the winter period but being a tight knit team meant we were able to create a community between the players and to keep pushing on through the new year. We also had a rough patch where we weren’t seeing results but as the cup game came up, we all came together to give it our all and came out with a massive win.”

How has this season shaped you personally as a player and a leader?

“As a player I’ve really enjoyed getting back into football as I took a long period of time away from playing and this season has really brought back my passion for the sport. As a leader, it’s a team I’m really proud to captain and being new to this role has allowed me to develop skills that I hope to progress into the next season.”

What have you learned from your teammates this year?

“With this being my first full season as a Magpie I have learnt that not everyone learns/takes criticism in the same way and therefore I have adapted accordingly to each player. However, I feel as if my teammates are understanding of each other and that allows us to work as a unit.”

How are you and the team feeling about next season?

“Me personally, I am extremely excited to see what next season will offer. The management have assured us that we are moving in the correct direction for the club and I am most excited about the added professionalism that aligns with the men’s side. The girls are equally as optimistic, and we are all looking forward to the future of the club.”

Are there specific goals or areas of improvement the team is already focused on?

“As a group we are really trying to focus on the mental side of the game, specifically on how to deal with minor setbacks. This is something that will set us up going into pre-season and will be beneficial as we look to aim high next season.”

What excites you the most about the next chapter for this squad?

“I am most excited about creating an environment that consists of players that carry a ‘must win mentality’ and believe in the project we have set up for us next season. That being said I also look forward to the individual moments where we come together as a team. Whether that be for a goal, team socials, fundraising events or getting involved with the younger girls. Up The Magpies!”
