Wimborne Town Women have continued to make history in the Women’s FA Cup by progressing to the Third Round Qualifying in their first ever season in the competition.
Taking on Shaftesbury in the Second Round Qualifying, the Magpies progressed after Tegan Barnes saved all three of the Rockies penalties in the penalty shootout.
With the scores tied at 1-1, Sheree Bell-Jack scoring for Wimborne, the match went to penalties. Jess Boyle, Freya Patton and Jess Selby all scored their spot kicks, whilst Tegan Barnes stepped up to save all three penalties that she faced.
The result means that Wimborne progressed to the Third Round Qualifying, and will be travelling to Feniton with the tie due to be played on Sunday 5th October. The winners of the tie will progress to the First Round Proper.
