The Magpies have 2 opportunities this week to secure promotion. The first is on Tuesday when they travel to Devon to take on Tavistock for this re-arranged fixture before travelling to Melksham.

On Saturday the boys had to put the champagne on ice after a draw at home to title rivals Frome Town with a late equaliser from Harry Morgan. The goal was Morgan’s 10th of the season and means Wimborne will end the season unbeaten at New Cuthbury and sending the 2,307 fans in attendance home happy.

Tavistock come into the tie-on shaky form with three losses in their last four games and a 0-0 draw to Bashley on the road last time out which sees them 12th in the division. However, on their day Tavistock are a match for the best in the division as they’ve shown by winning at home against Frome (6-2) and Cribbs (5-4). Wimborne go into the game still unbeaten since January. The boys have gone 1-0 down in three of their last four games but have come back each time, with late 2-1 wins to Evesham and Paulton and the draw this past Saturday.

The Magpies resolve looks like it could have gotten them over the line for promotion, with a two-point advantage over Frome with a game in hand. Nevertheless, the season is not over, and Tim Sills men will be looking for all three points to secure the title which will see the boys promoted to step 3 for the first time since 2021 and only the second time in our history.

Last time out against Tavistock in March, Wimborne came out on top with a hard fought 3-2 win with goals from Matty Neale, Billy Walker and a winner from Josh Carmichael seeing the Magpies take the lead three times during the game.

This time out Wimborne will be looking towards key players such as Sam Jackson, Harry Morgan and Bournemouth loanee Jonny Stuttle for the win after their impressive performances as of late.

Come on you Maggies!
